We source our sod from both Petersen’s Turf Farm and Manderley Turf Farm right here in Ottawa.
New sod does thrive in sunny areas, with adequate watering. However, sod can still grow in shady areas, as well. If your sod is being laid in any area that does not receive a lot of sunlight, you will have to adjust your watering schedule accordingly, to ensure that the shaded areas are receiving ample, but less water than the sod receiving plenty of sun.

We use 100% Kentucky Blue Grass sod, as it is the best option for Ottawa’s climate.

We install residential screened top soil from local suppliers, Greely Sand and Gravel being one of our main suppliers, which has been enhanced with humus peat to increase water retention.

We do not offer a warranty on any living products, such as sod, as the growth and overall success of the lawn is heavily dependent on maintenance such as watering. However, if you do have an issue with your sod that you do not believe is due to over/under watering or improper maintenance (such as being walked on heavily after installation) we would be happy to take a look and will proceed on a case-by-case basis.

Watering is critical in the first couple of weeks after initial installation. During the first 2 weeks, one to two times per day will be needed. For weeks 3 and 4 sod can be watered daily or every other day. After a month transition to deep watering 2-3 times per week. The goal is to keep the soil underneath moist to establish roots.
It can be mowed approximately three to four weeks after installation. Test by gently tugging it. If it resists, its ready.
This is common and usually due to uneven watering, heat stress or transplant shock.
Small gaps can occur due to shrinking from drying and minor installation settling. These gaps will usually fill in naturally as the lawn grows.
Using the new lawn too early can shift sod pieces and damage root growth. Recommend light foot traffic after 2-3 weeks nand regular use 4-6 weeks after installation.
